    Learn About Siding Installation

    Priced by material,
    measured on your walls.

    The range

New siding from 2FL runs from about $8 to $20 per square foot of wall. That is our own range, not a national average, and the biggest single thing that moves a job across it is the material you choose.

    By material

We install vinyl, fiber cement from James Hardie, wood and metal. Vinyl sits toward the lower end of the range, and fiber cement, wood and metal cost more. Our vinyl siding and James Hardie siding pages set out the trade between the two that most houses here choose from.

    What else moves it

The wall area comes first, measured on your house rather than worked out from the floor plan. Then what comes off: the old siding has to be removed and hauled away, and whatever is found behind it, from soft sheathing to missing flashing, has to be put right before anything new goes up. Trim, corners and the work around every window and door add to it as well.

Why a firm price needs a look

Two houses with the same wall area can land at opposite ends of the range, and the reason is usually hidden under the old siding. We measure, look behind it where we can, and put the price in writing, naming the material and everything that goes behind it. You can spread the cost through our financing partner, Hearth.

    What we do

    Get a Written Siding Price

We measure the walls, look at what is under the old siding where we can, and give you a written price that names the material and everything that goes behind it.

We had a great experience with 2FL on a small re-siding project. They accommodated some requests we had which was appreciated. They were also much more responsive than other siding companies we talked to, which was ultimately why we decided to go with 2FL. For…

I had a roof replaced and 2FL did an excellent job. It took them 2 days to complete and the roof looks great. Many neighbors have commented on how nice it is. I highly recommend them.

SIDING REPLACEMENT COST - WHAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY ASK

New siding from 2FL runs from about $8 to $20 per square foot of wall, depending mostly on the material. A firm price needs someone to measure the house and look at what is under the old siding, because that is where the surprises are.

Because the materials differ both in what they cost to buy and in how much work they take to put up. Vinyl is light and quick to hang, which is why it sits at the lower end. Fiber cement is heavier and is cut and fastened differently, so it costs more to buy and to install. Wood and metal are specialty choices, priced on the product and the design.

It depends on how long you plan to stay and what the house needs. Fiber cement resists rot, moisture and pests far better than wood, holds its factory finish, and James Hardie makes a formulation for the Pacific Northwest’s wet winters. Vinyl costs less and never needs painting. The vinyl siding and James Hardie siding pages go into the detail.

Yes, because it has to come off, be hauled away and be disposed of before anything new goes up. What we find behind it can add more: soft sheathing, missing house wrap or failed flashing all have to be put right first. Our siding contractors page explains how we handle what turns up.

Usually because they are not quoting the same job. Check that each one covers the removal and disposal of the old siding, the house wrap, the flashing at every window and door, the trim, and what happens if rot is found. If a quote is silent on any of those, ask, because that is where two numbers that look alike stop being alike.

If both are due, doing them together means the trim and the flashing around each window are done once, as one job. If only the windows are due, our Rain Jacket Flashing System lets us replace them without touching the siding, so you are not pushed into both.

Yes. The offer is 25% off siding, with installation included. Ask about it at the estimate.
